“We do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate.”

Thomas Jefferson

Our Community, Our Vote

Driven by a need to better understand local government and a desire to impact the decisions that affect our community, our goal is to help Franklin voters stay informed and participate in federal, state, and local elections. Organized by a group of Franklin citizens, the Franklin Voter Guide was created so that each of us can feel like every vote we cast is an educated and meaningful one.

How We Work

Our goal is simple: help voters understand the role of the offices and issues they are voting for and the positions of the candidates who are running. Included in the voter guide is a high-level summary of each office, along with a summary for each candidate. The information about each candidate comes from the candidate’s public voting record, written or live interviews, and a candidate survey we invite each candidate to complete. All candidates for each office receive the same survey and submission deadline.

The surveys are designed by our team of volunteers to address issues we see impacting our communities and help voters get a deeper understanding of each candidate. The survey responses are then converted into a guide format and published here.

In an effort to help voters truly understand who and what they are voting for, this website also offers definitions and overviews of laws, budgets, and other issues that may be referenced by candidates. The "Glossary" section of this website offers key information about offices on the ballot and upcoming election details.
